Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya answered journalists' questions regarding the agenda at an event in Ankara. Yerlikaya's remarks on regular migrants, "We conducted address investigations, and we could not find 150,327 Syrians," made a significant impact. Indicating that there were 5 million 196 thousand regular migrants when they took office in June 2023, Yerlikaya stated, "As of November 30, there are 4 million 171 thousand registered foreigners. The number of registered foreigners decreased by 1 million 25 thousand. Of the 4 million 171 thousand registered foreigners, 2 million 935 thousand are Syrians." "WE THINK 99.9% WENT TO EUROPE"Stating that they tracked the addresses of migrants and found the addresses of 731 thousand, Yerlikaya noted, "150,327 could not be found. The others updated their addresses. Among them, there were those who had not received any services for three years. We think 99.9% of them went to Europe," he evaluated. "THEY WILL SEND US A MESSAGE WITH LOCATION"Explaining that they have imposed a notification obligation starting from the first week of January 2025 for address updates related to regular migration, Yerlikaya said, "They will send us a message with location. If they do not send a location message notification, the police and gendarmerie will go. We have assigned all of these to police and gendarmerie stations. The system we established will report the numbers at the end of the month. Deviations will be detected and followed up. The Directorate General of Migration Management will inform us of the situation every month. Sanctions will be applied to those who violate the location message sending twice. "THEY WILL BE INSURED NOW"If regular migrants are working, they will now be insured. Whatever rules local citizens are subject to, migrants will also be subject to those. We are also starting inspections in this regard," he said.
