The Housing Price Index increased by 1.7% on a monthly basis and by 32.2% on an annual basis in September. In real terms, however, there was a 0.8% decrease in housing prices. Compared to the same month last year, the changes in the Housing Price Index for the three major cities showed an increase of 30.7% in Istanbul, 41.1% in Ankara, and 34.4% in Izmir.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) announced the Housing Price Index (HPI) data for September.
INCREASED BY 1.7% MONTHLY, 32.2% ANNUALLY
Accordingly, the Housing Price Index (HPI) (2023=100), calculated to track the price changes of housing in Turkey adjusted for quality effects, increased by 1.7% in September compared to the previous month, reaching 195.7.
While the HPI showed an annual increase of 32.2% in September, the real decrease during this period was 0.8%.
ANKARA OUTPERFORMED ISTANBUL
When looking at the HPI changes for the three major cities, in September, there was an increase of 1.5% in Istanbul, 2.3% in Ankara, and 2.9% in Izmir compared to the previous month.
Compared to the same month last year, the index values increased by 30.7% in Istanbul, 41.1% in Ankara, and 34.4% in Izmir.
When examining the annual changes in the housing price index of regions according to the Statistical Region Units Classification, the highest annual increase in September was observed in the Ankara region with 41.1%, while the lowest annual increase was recorded in the Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye region with 22.6%.
