In Yemen, the Houthis detained 3 planes carrying pilgrims at the International Sana'a Airport. The detained pilgrims were in a state of great panic while officials called for urgent intervention regarding the incident.

It was stated that Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen detained 3 planes carrying pilgrims at Sana International Airport.

According to a written statement by Yemen Airways, it was stated that the Houthis detained 3 Airbus 320 model planes belonging to the airline on June 25.

URGENT INTERVENTION CALL

It was reported that the 3 planes detained at Sana Airport carried hundreds of pilgrims who took off from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and returned to the country to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

The statement pointed out that thousands of Yemeni pilgrims in Saudi Arabia are waiting in line to return, and the Yemen Presidential Council, government, the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia, international air transportation organizations, and the United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, called for urgent intervention to put an end to the arbitrary practices of the Houthis.

1 PLANE WAS DETAINED 1 MONTH AGO

About 1 month ago, the Houthis also detained 1 Airbus 330 model plane belonging to Yemen Airways. The first commercial flight from Sana International Airport in Yemen to Amman, the capital of Jordan, took place on May 16, 2022, after a 6-year hiatus.
