The Presidency of Religious Affairs, in its message published on the occasion of the Victory Day on August 30, did not mention the name of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the Friday Sermon, while including his name. In the sermon, it was stated, "From Bedir to Malazgirt; from Çanakkale to the Battle of 30 August Supreme Command; from July 15 to the present day, I remember with mercy, gratitude, and respect our noble martyrs who sacrificed their lives for a homeland where we can live freely with the love of spreading the word of Allah, our heroic veterans who passed away to the afterlife, and our state leaders." IMAMOGLU'S HARSH REACTION: IT'S NOT CLEAR WHO HE SERVES After Friday prayers, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu made evaluations to journalists regarding this issue and stated, "You are not mentioning the commander who stopped the occupation of his land, the person who saved his country. The President of Religious Affairs is not a person who carries the national feelings of this country. May Allah reform him. It is not clear who he serves. He also destroyed the faith of this nation."
