In Germany, a woman named Katarina Jovanovic killed her baby by throwing it out of the window, believing that it would negatively impact her career.

Katarina Jovanovic, who lives in the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, threw her newborn daughter out of the apartment window, thinking that it would ruin her career, and was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Heilbronn Regional Court.

SECRETLY GAVE BIRTH

The court determined that Jovanovic secretly gave birth at home 10 months ago and killed the baby by throwing her from a height of about 3.5 meters. When the skull was found broken at the scene, the police were notified. Jovanovic admitted the crime but did not provide detailed explanation of how she committed the murder.

The prosecution accused Jovanovic of murder, stating that she made this decision because she concealed her pregnancy and thought that the baby would affect her career. Prosecutor Mareike Hafendoerfer said, "The defendant did not want to suspend her life plans for a child, especially for her professional advancement.

She made this decision when the baby was born, and therefore the criteria for a murder conviction were met," she said. Defense attorney Malte Hoech argued, "This is a drama that personally affects me. My client did not even know she was pregnant. When she suddenly held the bloody baby in her hands, she was in an extraordinary psychological state. It was an accident, she dropped the baby. How the child fell out of the window should be determined," he defended.
