The trial regarding the murder of Ayşe Tokyaz, killed by former police officer Cemil Koç in Küçükçekmece, continues on its third day. Speaking at the hearing, the victim's twin sister, Esra Tokyaz, cried herself and made the entire courtroom weep. Tokyaz said, "Cemil Koç thinks he is smart, but I sent a photo of him abusing Ayşe to my own phone. Now let him say she fell down the stairs. This will be my surprise for you, Cemil Koç." Following a scuffle in the courtroom, the police intervened.
On July 11, in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, 22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz was murdered by former police officer Cemil Koç, whose body was placed in a suitcase and left by the roadside in Eyüpsultan. The trial of the suspect Cemil Koç (38) and eight other defendants is continuing on its third day, where they appeared before the judge for the first time.
ESRA TOKYAZ GAVE A STATEMENT In the hearing held at the Küçükçekmece 2nd High Criminal Court, the nine detained defendants, including Cemil Koç, and the lawyers of the parties were present. Additionally, the complainant's twin sister Esra, and parents Halime and Mustafa Tokyaz were also present. In the hearing held yesterday, while the defendant Cemil Koç continued his defense, Tokyaz's brother, Abdulkadir Tokyaz, and mother Halime Tokyaz had given statements. In today's hearing, the complainant's twin sister Esra Tokyaz gave a statement.
"CEMIL MANIPULATED AYSE" In her statement, the complainant Esra Tokaz stated that she and Ayşe were twins and had never been apart until the day of the incident, and that they attended the same schools. She said, "I chose my school according to Ayşe's wish to study health, and we were placed in the same school. Ayşe met Cemil. Cemil manipulated Ayşe. He deceived her with promises of marriage. My sister, due to her age, fell for it. Cemil introduced himself to us as 'Cem' and said he was a 'programmer.' When Ayşe went to him, he would play her favorite music. He constantly told us to pay attention to our clothes and to pray. During that time, I always saw Cemil on video calls. I would tell Ayşe that we should meet him and see what kind of person he was. One day, we went to his house with C. A., and Ayşe was there too. We wanted to get to know Cemil. But he didn't introduce himself. We wanted to play spin the bottle at his house. During the game, I asked him, 'What is your biggest regret?' He didn't answer this question. That day, I realized something was wrong. When I told Ayşe about it, my relationship with my sister deteriorated. Cemil manipulated my sister. He didn't want us to meet. He constantly told Ayşe, 'Your sister is jealous of you.' Cemil is slandering my family and Ayşe. I became so focused on Ayşe that I couldn't go to school or see my friends. One day, I found a rolled-up burnt bill at Cemil's house. I asked Ayşe about it, and she didn't say anything. There were some documents at home, I examined them but found nothing. One day, when Cemil and Ayşe broke up, Ayşe cried a lot. I tried to get along with Ayşe so she would tell me something. We had a list of places to visit in Istanbul. We went out to explore, but Ayşe was very down." she said.
"AYŞE TOLD ME, 'ESRA, THIS GUY IS CRAZY'" Continuing her statement, Esra Tokyaz mentioned that after Ayşe and Cemil broke up, C. A. intervened, saying, "One day, while talking to Ayşe in Florya, she told me that they went to Eskişehir with Cemil, where Cemil gave her cocaine, her throat burned, and she cried a lot. I got angry with her there. After Ayşe and Cemil broke up, C. A. called Ayşe and said, 'I feel very sorry for you, I will reconcile you.' One morning when I woke up, Ayşe had gone to Eskişehir to be with Cemil. We had to change our dormitory. I carried those belongings alone; normally, Ayşe wouldn't allow this, but she didn't come to me. One day, Ayşe came to the dorm with Cemil. That day, Ayşe stayed at our cousin's house. While talking to my cousin, she said, 'Ayşe exaggerates the events.' One day, Cemil called Ayşe to his house under the pretense of a surprise. I went to her side so Esra wouldn't be alone. We were doing an internship at the hospital. Cemil had arranged that internship for us. One day while I was staying at Cemil's house, I saw a black gun. I told Ayşe about it, and she said, 'I know, he shot outside last night.' One day, after our internship, I cooked dinner before I even took off my clothes, and we all ate together. Later, I must have fallen asleep in my clothes; I have a very heavy sleep. When I woke up, it was morning. When I got up, the door knocked, and Cemil and Ayşe were at the door. Ayşe's lip was swollen, and blood was dripping from her eye. When I asked, she said it happened while putting in her contact lenses and that she bit her lip. I said, 'Do you think I'm stupid?' and they kicked me out of the house. I told Ayşe, 'Let's go to the hospital.' At that moment, Cemil said to me, 'Where are you going, do you have any money?' and he approached me aggressively. I wanted to talk to Ayşe alone in the room. Ayşe sat and cried, and Cemil called us. I was trembling. Ayşe told me, 'Esra, this guy is crazy.' We wanted to leave the house, but he called us to the living room. I said, 'We are leaving this house.' When Ayşe said she would come with me, we argued. When we got into the elevator and went down, Cemil slapped Ayşe in front of the elevator. As we were going down, Ayşe went inside to get her phone, and the door closed in my face. Later, the door opened. I went back inside for Ayşe. I left my bag with my ID in the elevator because I knew this guy was crazy. At that moment, Cemil said to me, 'You will leave, Ayşe will stay here.' When I said no, he objected. I wanted to make them coffee to stay in that house for 4-5 hours. Later, Cemil said to me, 'You are leading Ayşe down the wrong path.'
"CEMIL SAID, 'YOU HAVE 2 MINUTES TO LEAVE THE HOUSE, AYSE HAS 5 SECONDS TO MAKE A CHOICE'" Continuing her statement, complainant Tokyaz said, "One day, Cemil threw money at us and asked us to buy him a t-shirt. After buying the t-shirt, we took the metrobus and argued with Ayşe there; I told her I didn't want to go home. On July 8, Ayşe sent me a video to leave this house. I want to present this video to the court. That day, I went back home. When they kicked me out of the house, I wanted to leave with Ayşe. Cemil didn't allow Ayşe to leave the house. Cemil said to me, 'You have 2 minutes to leave the house, and Ayşe has 5 seconds to make a choice.' As Cemil counted down the 5 seconds with his hand, Ayşe sat next to Cemil. Cemil then said to me, 'Your time is up.' He grabbed my arm and pulled me outside. Ayşe was crying. As we went down and were heading to the dorm, I called Ayşe on the way, and Cemil answered the phone. He said, 'She is sleeping.' After a while, I video-called Ayşe. Cemil answered and said she was still sleeping. This time he showed Ayşe, and half of her face was visible. Her eye was completely swollen, and I took a screenshot of that moment. Then I called my sisters and told them everything. They said if something happened to me, Ayşe would tell you. I wasn't at ease. That day I went to school. After class, I called her, and we met around 4 in Mecidiyeköy, C. A.
getirmişti onu. 4 saat bekleyince sinirlendim. Ayşe o gün büyük bir gözlük takmıştı. Hiç böyle gözlük takmazdı. Ben de ona sinirlendim. Ayşe benim gözüme bakmadı. Bana, 'Cemil kendini affettirecekmiş' dedi. Biz, yanımızda C. A. ile beraber mağaza kabinine geçtik, yüzü mosmordu. Ona, Hatay'a gidelim dedim.
"'GIVE ME TO THE POLICE, NO ONE CAN HURT ME'" Müşteki Tokaz, beyanın devamında, "On July 9, I got ready and went to Yeşilköy. I met with my friends, at that moment Cemil called me. I spoke with Ayşe. Ayşe told me, 'bring the rings from the dormitory.' When I asked what rings at this hour, she said, 'we will take them to the jeweler and sell them.' At that moment, Cemil took the phone and said to me, 'you clueless, have you ever seen love in your life, how would you know?' C. A. came to pick me up, on the way Cemil didn't answer my calls and texted me to go to a place in Bahçelievler. When we went to Bahçelievler, no one answered the phone. We waited, no one came. Then we wanted to go home. On the way, C. A. was driving slowly. We went home, Cemil opened the door. When I asked about Ayşe, he looked at me and smiled, saying, 'I left her somewhere, it was an exaggerated place.' When I saw the shoes, I said, 'but the shoes are here,' and I got suspicious. He stopped and calmly said to me, 'she must have gone in her slippers.' I shouted, 'where is Ayşe?' No one came out from inside. I wanted to go home, he didn't let me. Then he sent C. A. downstairs, telling him to go in. C. A. prevented this, saying to me, 'Esra, let's go, Ayşe is in the dormitory.' As we were leaving the house, Cemil told me, 'by the way, you can continue with the internship I arranged for you.' Then he said to me, 'go, give me to the police, complain. No one can hurt me.' I told C. A., 'take me to the dormitory.' I went to the dormitory, they told me Ayşe hadn't come to the dormitory. Then I cried and called a taxi. I went to Cemil's site, the security told me, 'we can't let you in.' I wanted to sneak inside, the staff didn't allow it. I told the taxi driver that I was calling my brother. When the police arrived at the address, I got into their car and explained the situation. I told them Ayşe's face was bruised. They told me I couldn't meet Ayşe. We all went upstairs together, they knocked on the door. I deliberately said I hadn't been able to reach them for 3 days, just so they would call. We went upstairs, and when no one answered, the police told me, 'there's nothing we can do.' I saw someone from the site, it was security. The security told me that Cemil had gone out with a woman and left the site." dedi.
"I CALLED MY MOM, THE POLICE TOLD ME NOT TO SAY I WAS AT THE STATION" Müşteki Esra Tokyaz, kardeşini aradığı sürece ilişkin ise, "I left the site and then went to the police station. When I gave Cemil's name, everyone looked at each other. The police turned to me and said, 'he's our friend.' The police kept me occupied there. When I asked, 'aren't you going to call the house?' they said, 'it's late.' I started to cry, and then they went to call the house. I fell asleep at the table where my statement was taken, but I could hear everything. A male police officer turned to a female police officer and said, 'look at what kind of trouble he's gotten into.' They were talking about how Cemil Koç had drugged a woman and assaulted her. The police who went to the house told me there was loud music in the house and that it was dirty. Hours later, I called Cemil again via video, since I didn't have any photos of him, I took a screenshot. Cemil told me, 'Ayşe went somewhere to make me jealous, she called me via video.' I said, 'she didn't call me, why is she calling you, give me the number she called.' He said to me, 'don't mess with me.' A police officer I saw at the station wrote to me on social media. He asked me if I had found my brother. He spoke to me with insults. He called me to Şirinevler. In Şirinevler, the police told me, 'you look devastated, I swear we will find your brother, if you want, come to my house.' When I went to the dormitory, 15-20 male police officers interrogated me at the Kanarya Police Station. I felt guilty. The police told me, 'don't try to manipulate us emotionally.' During this process, I crawled on the ground from exhaustion. My knees were covered in blood. They showed me a woman in a white hoodie. It was the security camera footage from Cemil's house. The police asked if this person was Ayşe. I said, 'this is not her.' After a while, a female police officer named Zümrüt came and told me, 'Cemil has killed your brother.' I fainted. Other police officers said there was no such thing. After that, I called my mom. The police told me not to say I was at the station, I told my mom I was at the dormitory," diye konuştu.
"WHEN I SAW THE WRITING ON THE SCREEN, I UNDERSTOOD AT THAT MOMENT THAT MY SISTER HAD DIED" Gözyaşları içinde olay gününü anlatan müşteki Esra Tokyaz, "On the day she died, I saw Ayşe in my dream. She was lying on the ground, I woke up crying. My dorm friends were disturbed by me. The next day, Cemil called me, saying, 'I know your statement word for word,' and read my statement to me. I called the police station, and when I said I would complain about them, they told me, 'we have made significant progress in finding her, if you complain, we won't be able to find your sister.' I went to the police station. They showed me a photo of someone, that man was the suspect Oğuz Kal. He was with Koç. They didn't have any suitcases. The police called me from the police station, I went to the Forensic Medicine Institution. At the ATK, I asked, 'Is Ayşe Tokyaz here?' They didn't answer me. Oh God, help me, I cried out Ayşe. I threw myself on the ground, the cafeteria staff calmed me down. While sitting in the cafeteria, when I saw the writing on the screen that said 'Ayşe Tokyaz's autopsy is ongoing,' at that moment I understood that my sister had died. They let me in, took my DNA sample. I told the staff, 'there's no need for an autopsy or DNA, when you see me, you'll see her too.' At that moment, my brother and cousins arrived. I still didn't believe Ayşe was dead, when I saw the death certificate, I said, 'you're lying.' My brother signed the document. I closed my eyes and wanted to forget this moment. I wanted to tell Ayşe everything. They opened the bag. Everyone says Ayşe's body was decomposed, but Ayşe's body was like an angel. We took Ayşe to Hatay. I didn't know what to say to my mom. I didn't want to show Ayşe. I wanted to get into the coffin myself. When I got home, my mom asked about Ayşe, I said she was not there, I hugged my mom. Then they brought the coffin home. Six months passed, I haven't laid down to sleep, I doze off standing up. I've lost everything I could lose. I'm not afraid of anyone."
"LET THIS BE MY SURPRISE FOR YOU CEMIL KOÇ" Returning to the defendants, the complainant Tokyaz stated, "Do you think that Ayşe is dead, that you killed her? Every place Ayşe walked, every street is named Ayşe Tokyaz. The name of the road she was left on is Ayşe Tokyaz; I opened libraries in her name. I died, Ayşe did not die. Ayşe will be beneficial to the children of these defendants. Cemil Koç thinks he is very clever, but the photo of Ayşe being subjected to violence was taken by Cemil Koç himself. I found this photo on his phone and sent it to myself; I am submitting it to the file. Now let him say she fell down the stairs. Let this be my surprise for you Cemil Koç." In response, Cemil Koç said, 'I have my God, God sees.' A person named Murat Arslan called me and said, "We are thinking of opening a clinic for you, transferring money to your account, and buying a car." I said I did not want it. The next day he called me again and said, "What did you do, let’s invite you to Ankara." This person was a businessman and was a relative of the defendant Oğuz Kula," he said.
AN ALTERCATION BROKE OUT After the statement, the court took a 10-minute break. During this time, the defendant C. A.'s wife Esra Tokyaz said to her, "What do you want from an innocent man?" As a scuffle broke out in the hall, police and gendarmerie intervened. After the break, the hearing continues with the statements of the complainant's lawyers.
