While the repercussions of Ela Rümeysa Cebeci's arrest continue in the context of the "drug" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a noteworthy statement has also come from Fulya Öztürk regarding the matter.
Former Habertürk and Show TV presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, whose drug test came back positive as part of an ongoing investigation, went to the Istanbul Courthouse to give a statement to the prosecutor's office. Cebeci, who is said to have additional evidence against her, was arrested on the charge of "facilitating drug use."
"IF I HAD SAID 'THERE SHOULD BE NO NEWS ANCHOR LIKE THIS' A MONTH AGO..."
While the repercussions of the incident continue, a striking statement came from Fulya Öztürk regarding the issue. Criticizing Ela Rümeysa Cebeci's outfit during a live broadcast on CNN Türk, Fulya Öztürk said, "If I had written a month ago that 'there should be no news anchor like this, don't bring our profession to this state, can such an outfit exist, can news be presented like this?' I would have been lynched, lynched... They would have said to me that a woman who criticizes another woman is an enemy of women. Are you trying to please someone? Did you criticize her because you don't have that kind of physique? They would have started a lynch campaign against me. That's why let's use our minds a bit. Let's give the right reactions at the right time," she said.
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
Meanwhile, following Cebeci's arrest, a statement from the Chief Prosecutor's Office said, "Our Republic Chief Prosecutor's Office, through the Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau, has arrested the suspect Ela Rümeysa Cebeci on the charge of facilitating drug use, following her defense taken today in line with the additional evidence against her regarding the crimes of procuring and facilitating drug use."
