As part of the 'corruption' investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), it has been claimed that the personal data and location information of 4.7 million users from the "Istanbul Senin" application were leaked to two countries. In the investigation, 5 suspects were detained, 4 of whom were arrested and sent to prison. 1 suspect was released under judicial control measures.

ARREST WARRANT FOR 4 SUSPECTS



As part of the investigation, the procedures of 5 suspects who were detained have been completed. After health checks, the suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. The prosecutor's office requested the arrest of 4 suspects and the application of judicial control for 1 suspect. The peace criminal court decided to arrest 4 suspects and to apply judicial control measures for 1 suspect.

WHAT HAPPENED?



Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that 5 more suspects were identified, who were mentioned in statements related to the allegation that the ballot data of 11 million citizens were processed and leaked outside the program in the "IMM Home" sub-application, and who were found to have connections with the organization leaders and involvement in the processing and sending of data abroad.



It was understood that two of the suspects were working in the IMM Smart City Department, while the other suspects were employed at the Communication Coordination Center.



The prosecutor's office had issued a detention order for the suspects on charges of "illegally disseminating personal data" and "being a member of a criminal organization." In this context, 5 suspects were detained.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE



In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that in the investigation conducted regarding the activities and actions of the alleged organized crime group led by Ekrem İmamoğlu, it was determined that the personal data and location information of 4.7 million users were leaked to two countries through the mentioned application, and that the personal data and location information of these users were put up for sale on the "dark web." It was also recorded that the ballot data of 11 million citizens were processed and leaked outside the program in the sub-application named "IMM Home" within the same application.



Regarding these findings, it was stated that a detention order was issued for a total of 15 suspects, including 13 suspects who were found to have connections with the mentioned organization leaders and who held managerial positions in 6 companies, including IMM affiliated companies, as well as 2 suspects who were found to have participated in the issuance of fake invoices for the companies of the fugitive organization leader Murat Gülibrahimoğlu, on charges of "illegally obtaining personal data," "violating the Tax Procedure Law," and "being a member of the organized crime group led by Ekrem İmamoğlu." It was mentioned that all suspects had been captured.



In this context, 6 of the 15 suspects detained were arrested. The court applied judicial control measures for 9 suspects.
