The incident occurred in a site on Nergis Street in Küçükbakkalköy neighborhood. Leyla Kezer, who lives in the site, took her Poodle dog Toffy outside for a walk. However, shortly after leaving the site, a Kangal dog, which was learned to belong to a food company, attacked Kezer's dog. The Kangal dog bit the Poodle multiple times in succession. Leyla Kezer tried to save her dog but was unsuccessful. Neighbors who heard the commotion rushed to help separate the dogs. One of the citizens hit the Kangal dog several times with a plastic stick to drive it away. After a while, the owner of the Kangal dog noticed the situation and came with a leash, struggling to pull his dog away from the scene. Toffy, who was severely injured, was taken to the veterinarian but was pronounced dead. Leyla Kezer, the owner, fell ill and was taken to the hospital. It was learned that Kezer had suffered a heart attack. After being treated in the hospital for a while, Leyla Kezer was discharged. Toffy was buried in an animal cemetery located in Beykoz. Leyla Kezer's husband, lawyer Çetin Kezer, filed a complaint against the owner of the Kangal dog.

DESPITE BEING WARNED BEFORE, THE DOG WAS RELEASED

Görkem Kezer, Leyla Kezer's son, said, "I had a Poodle dog named Toffy, and we usually walked him in the site. Since he was a purebred dog, everyone loved him very much. He had become the mascot of the site, and even people who were afraid of dogs overcame their fear. One person was disturbed. If there are 40 apartments, 39 really loved Toffy, and we started walking him in the park because one person was disturbed. On Sunday, while my mother was walking Toffy, there were two Kangal dogs from a food production company across from us. One Kangal dog belonging to the company was walking freely in the park and saw Toffy and immediately tried to attack. The Kangal is already as big as me and very strong. Since my mother is a thin and weak woman, she couldn't resist. She was already very scared. While the dog was tearing Toffy apart, my mother fainted and suffered a heart attack. She stayed in intensive care for two days. We had already seen this dog released 15 days ago. I told my father. My father went and talked to them, explaining the situation. There were children playing in the park, and we were walking our dogs, so we suggested that it would be good for their safety to keep their dog on a leash. Even though they said 'okay,' for such an incident to happen two weeks later and for my mother to go through such a big problem... We are very grateful that she survived, but the death of our two-year-old Poodle has saddened us a lot," he said.

"IT WAS THROWING THE LITTLE DOG AROUND"

The site's security officer, Haşim Altıyaprak, said, "I have never seen it attack people before. I have not seen it attack animals either, but sometimes it was wandering around here without a leash. On the day of the incident, it was close to the shift change. I was cleaning in the booth. Suddenly, I heard noises. When I looked, the dog was attacking the dog in the woman's arms. Then I ran with a long stick I had to intervene, but the dog didn't pay any attention to my intervention. In the end, it was throwing the dog around. We left it thinking it was dead. I didn't know if it was alive or dead, but when we went to the vet, they said it was dead. The owner came, and the owner let the dog go. He had something like a chain in his hand. The owner let it go; maybe he wouldn't have let it go otherwise. At that moment, there was no one around. Even if there were, sufficient intervention couldn't have been made because it is a very strong dog. I didn't see it; when I was going home last night, I looked. The dog was not in its usual place. But I don't know what they did," he said.
