Suárez, along with his wife Sofia Balbi, went to the scene to calm a person who was attempting suicide and tried to bring the situation under control. The incident occurred from Friday night to Saturday evening in the Ciudad de la Costa area of Canelones, Uruguay. A 49-year-old man climbed a 6-meter-high tree and said, "If his 53-year-old wife doesn't come, he will kill himself." When authorities arrived at the scene, it was determined that the man was unarmed but had tied a rope around his neck. According to police reports, it was also noted that the man was under supervision due to domestic violence allegations.
