The President of the Confederation of Public Servants' Unions (Memur-Sen), Ali Yalçın, stated, "Our collective bargaining proposal for a 15% additional raise for public servant salaries for the year 2025 should be implemented in January." Yalçın, at a press conference held at the Memur-Sen General Center with the heads of unions affiliated with the confederation, said that the raise in public servant salaries has fallen behind inflation.
Using the expression, "Our collective bargaining proposal for a 15% additional raise for public servant salaries for the year 2025 should be implemented in January," Yalçın stated, "The costs of unattainable targets, invalid expectations, and policies that do not reflect reality should not be imposed on our public employees and retirees."
"WE ARE FACING A GREAT VICTIMIZATION SCENARIO"
Yalçın stated that the understanding of suppressing wages with the perception that wage increases fuel inflation should be abandoned, saying, "The expectations of the Central Bank, the state's goals, the employers' offers, and the arbitrator's decisions did not hold. As a result, we are facing a significant cost and victimization scenario that public employees did not influence but are affected by."
Ali Yalçın continued: The tax base and tariff system, where more than the salary increase is paid as tax, should be abandoned, and a fair tax system should be established where less is taken from those who earn less and more from those who earn more, with income tax fixed at 15%. Workers should be relieved from the heavy tax burden. The gains of our collective bargaining, which are under international agreements and constitutional guarantees, should not be disregarded by bureaucratic preferences, savings circulars, and high court decisions, and our gains regarding protective clothing and overtime pay should be fully implemented. The decision of the Arbitration Board and the commitment of our President should be fulfilled, and the additional indicator of 3600 for the first degree should be put into effect.
"OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS SHOULD RECEIVE THE VALUE THEY DESERVE"
Ali Yalçın called for the abolition of the auxiliary services class and the transfer of personnel in this class to the general administrative services class. Yalçın stated that the holiday bonus given to retirees should also be given to public employees. Requesting that their demands be taken into account during the budget discussions in the Parliament, Yalçın said, "Our public servants, who work selflessly even under the most difficult conditions for the quality of public service, should receive the value they deserve, and we want there to be a share of welfare in the January salary."
