Ahmet Özer, the CHP mayor of Esenyurt who was arrested and replaced by a trustee, sent a message from prison. In the message shared on his social media account, Özer said, "Do not worry at all, these days will pass. Justice, law, and fairness will prevail."

In his message, Ahmet Özer recalled that he was taken into custody one day after the Republic Day on October 29, stating, "Unfortunately, on the first day of entering the second century of our Republic, we faced an operation against me, our Esenyurt municipality, and naturally against the founding party of our Republic, the Republican People's Party. This operation, which I see as part of a chain, is based on baseless and unfounded allegations."

"WE SIGNED IMPORTANT AND LARGE PROJECTS IN A SHORT TIME"

Özer continued his remarks as follows: "As a public servant and an academic, I have served this country for many years. I have educated many students. I have always strived for the Republic of Turkey to be a prosperous and democratic country. I will continue to do so.

Today, as the Mayor, I am perhaps the mayor of the district with the biggest problems in Turkey. We have signed important and large projects that solve the problems of our Esenyurt people in a short time. We will soon share with you what we have contributed to Esenyurt, our people-oriented, fair, and investor-friendly efforts."

"I AM AN ACADEMIC OF THE REPUBLIC"

"At no point in my life have I been involved in terrorist activities or organizations that could be associated with them. I am an academic of the Republic. Regarding the Kurdish issue, I have always had my views and solutions, which I have shared publicly through books and articles, not secretly."

"THEY WILL ACCOUNT FOR THEIR SLANDERS"

"After my unjust imprisonment, I see the slanders fabricated behind my back by those who call themselves journalists, researchers, communicators, etc. Rest assured, I will hold them accountable for these cheap lies in front of the law. Integrity is important. Those who engage in character assassination and make despicable statements, as you can see, come forward while I am in prison. Because integrity and humanity have never crossed their threshold. They have not received this upbringing from their families. Therefore, they will account for their slanders.

Finally, I would like to express to the people of Esenyurt that I miss them very much and that I am excited to return to our old days. Do not worry at all, these days will pass. Justice, law, and fairness will prevail!"
