According to the latest weather report published by the Meteorology, rainy weather is expected to enter the country tonight through the Aegean Sea. Starting from Sunday, with the expected rainfall in the interior and northern regions, experts have issued a snow warning ahead of the New Year. In the new week, snow and mixed rain are anticipated in 9 cities, while heavy rainfall is expected in 27 cities.

The General Directorate of Meteorology shared the weather forecast report for Saturday, December 20, with the public. According to the latest evaluations, sunny weather is expected to dominate the country today, while heavy rainfall is anticipated to increase its impact in some regions.

During these days when air temperatures are above seasonal norms, it was noted that heavy rain and thunderstorms would be seen in the southwestern parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean, as well as along the coasts of Kırklareli. A warning was issued that the intensity of rainfall would increase, especially around Muğla.

SNOWFALL EXPECTED IN 11 PROVINCES ON MONDAY

In the published 5-day weather forecast report, it was emphasized that the warm weather, referred to as "false spring," would give way to harsh winter conditions. In a statement from the Meteorology, it was expressed that temperatures would drop in inland and coastal areas starting from Monday, December 22, and precipitation would be seen in the form of snow.

RAIN AND SNOW ARE COMING

Starting from Monday, mixed rain and snow are expected in Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar, Eskişehir, Bolu, Ankara, Kırıkkale, Çankırı, Kastamonu, and Yozgat; while heavy rainfall is anticipated in Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Istanbul, Yalova, Kocaeli, Balıkesir, Bursa, Uşak, Denizli, Burdur, Antalya, Muğla, Isparta, Karaman, Mersin, Aksaray, Nevşehir, Kırşehir, Bilecik, Sakarya, Düzce, Zonguldak, Karabük, Çorum, Amasya, and Bartın.

THE EFFECT WILL CONTINUE ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

It was reported that snowfall would continue to be effective in the inland regions of the country until mid-week. According to meteorological data;

Tuesday, December 23: Snowfall is expected to intensify in Yozgat, Kırşehir, Sivas, Kayseri, Niğde, and Nevşehir.

Wednesday, December 24: Snowfall is predicted to continue in Sivas and Nevşehir.

Authorities reminded citizens to be cautious and take precautions against possible disruptions in transportation and icing due to the drop in temperatures and snowfall.

HOW WILL THE WEATHER BE IN ISTANBUL?

According to the weekly forecast shared by AKOM, temperatures in Istanbul are expected to range between 11-14 degrees in the coming days, remaining around seasonal norms. Generally, a rainy, partly cloudy, and very cloudy weather is anticipated over the weekend, while intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected across Istanbul starting from Sunday night.

Rain is coming to Istanbul on Sunday night. It will continue at the beginning of the week. Fog and haze will be effective in transportation for another 2-3 days. It also increases air pollution.

The possibility of snow in Turkey has increased in the new year. There is a chance of entering the new year with snow. Except for the Mediterranean, Aegean coast, and Southeast. Snowfall is expected in Marmara on New Year's Eve. Will it snow in Istanbul despite the heat island effect? There are still 10 days left, it can change, we are monitoring."
