A boat carrying irregular migrants sank off the coast of Cesme district in Izmir. The Coast Guard teams managed to rescue 19 migrants, while the lifeless bodies of 7 migrants were found. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that search operations are ongoing to find 1 irregular migrant and said, "We will continue our relentless fight against migrant smuggling organizers who cause the death of babies, children, and innocent people by engaging in human trafficking."
7 lifeless bodies of irregular migrants were found as a result of the sinking of the boat carrying irregular migrants in the Çeşme district of Izmir, 19 irregular migrants were rescued.
MINISTER YERLİKAYA SHARES DEVASTATING NEWS
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who announced the development, said, "Today, at 10:47 in the Çeşme district of Izmir, it was reported that there was a group of irregular migrants on Çeşme Karaada, and upon receiving a notification that 1 irregular migrant was taken from the sea by a fishing boat in the region and that there could be irregular migrants in the sea, 4 Coast Guard Boats, 1 Coast Guard Helicopter, and 1 Coast Guard Diving Team were dispatched to the area.
"7 LIFELESS BODIES OF MIGRANTS HAVE BEEN RECOVERED"
As a result of the search and rescue operations carried out by the Coast Guard units, a total of 19 irregular migrants, including 18 from the island and 1 from the fishing boat in the region, were rescued in good health, unfortunately, 7 lifeless bodies of irregular migrants were recovered. I pray to Allah for mercy for those who lost their lives.
