Minister Güler: The PKK/YPG terrorist organization in Syria will be eliminated sooner or later.

15.12.2024 12:20

The Minister of National Defense, Güler, stated, "In the new era, the PKK/YPG terrorist organization will be eliminated in Syria sooner or later. Both the new administration in Syria and we want this."

The Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, met with the Ankara representatives of newspapers and television. Güler made important statements regarding the new era in Syria.

"WE NEED TO SEE WHAT THE NEW GOVERNMENT WILL DO"

Güler stated, "The new government that overthrew Assad announced in its first statement that it would respect all government institutions, the United Nations, and other international organizations. They also specifically expressed that they would transparently report any information they obtain regarding the detection of chemical weapons to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons." He expressed that they believe it is necessary to see what the new government will do and to give them a chance.

"MILITARY SUPPORT CAN BE PROVIDED IF THE NEW GOVERNMENT REQUESTS IT"

Güler pointed out that there are currently Military Training and Cooperation Agreements with many countries and said, "We are ready to provide the necessary support if the new government requests it."

"THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN DEPRIVED OF ITS SOURCE OF INCOME"

Stating that "the U.S. had a certain stance in Syria until now, but the environment has changed," Güler said, "Now everyone, whether they want to or not, has to accept the reality that has emerged. Indeed, Deir ez-Zor, which is one of the main income sources of the PKK/YPG and the main oil region, has come under the control of the opposition. Currently, the PKK/YPG terrorist organization has been deprived of this source of income." he stated.

"THE ORGANIZATION HAS FALLEN INTO A SERIOUS FINANCIAL CRISIS"

Noting that operations conducted after the TUSAŞ attack targeted facilities providing resources to terrorists in northern Syria, Güler said, "The organization is currently in a very serious financial crisis. Additionally, if we pay attention to the messages given by the new government that overthrew Assad, they have openly expressed that they will play an inclusive role in the country."

"THEY ARE TRYING TO SAVE THEMSELVES IN THE NEW ERA"

Recalling the message from Ferhat Abdi Şahin, the leader of the terrorist organization in Syria, who stated in an interview with his television, "We are in agreement with the new government. No flag other than the new Syrian flag will be flown in the areas where we are present in Syria," Güler said, "This message shows that the terrorist organization is in search of saving itself in the new era."

"WE WILL NOT ALLOW PKK/YPG TO ACT ALONE"

Güler stated, "It is out of the question for the PKK/YPG terrorist organization to act alone and create space for itself, neither the Syrian people, nor the new government, nor us will allow it." He added, "Our primary concern is the elimination of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization. We have expressed this clearly and unequivocally to our American friends. We expect them to reassess their positions as well."
