Referring to the CHP's emergence as the leading party in the local elections on March 31, Erdoğan made a self-criticism, stating, "How is it that the CHP can receive so many votes? How can they win so many municipalities? Before making criticisms, we will look for the problem within ourselves."
In the AK Party Group Meeting, President Erdoğan, who evaluated the current issues on the agenda, made a striking statement regarding the local elections in which the CHP emerged as the leading party.
"HOW CAN CHP GET SO MANY VOTES?"
Stating that the AK Party is responsible for the CHP's success in local elections despite all its negative actions, Erdoğan said, "How can CHP get so many votes? How can it win so many municipalities? To be frank, we are the ones responsible for this as the AK Party. This is a self-criticism. Our ancestors said, 'Put the needle to yourself and the awl to others.'
"MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAD TO VOTE FOR CHP UNWILLINGLY..."
Continuing his statement, Erdoğan said, "Before criticizing, we will look for the problem within ourselves," and added: "The economic difficulties we are experiencing, combined with our shortcomings and even our mistakes due to the effects of global and regional crises, forced millions of people to go and vote for CHP unwillingly. Perhaps they did not vote, but the result is clear."
