Reactions are pouring in against İYİ Party member Erhan Usta's remarks directed at the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, during the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission. A large number of politicians have expressed their disapproval of Usta.
The discussions during the review of the 2026 budgets of the Parliament, the Public Ombudsman Institution, and the Court of Accounts in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Planning and Budget Commission led to a debate.
SCANDALOUS WORDS
After the presentation of the Commission by the Speaker of the Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş, İYİ Party Deputy Chairman and Samsun Deputy Erhan Usta, who spoke on the TBMM's 2026 budget, criticized the activities of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established for the goal of a "Terror-free Turkey."
During Usta's speech, a statement directed at Kurtulmuş, "We understood that you have a love for the PKK. What I don't understand is where Abdullah Öcalan's love for Numan Kurtulmuş comes from?" led to a debate in the hall. TBMM President Kurtulmuş, reacting to Usta, left the hall.
REACTIONS POURED IN
Many politicians reacted to Usta's words. AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated in his remarks regarding the issue, "We strongly condemn the disrespect and insulting words directed at our Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, under the roof of the Grand Assembly."
Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan said, "The words are inappropriate and meaningless," while DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan reacted to Usta with the words, "The Parliament is a place for solving problems, not for escalating them."
"EVERYONE SHOULD BE MINDFUL OF THEIR TONE"

Renewed Welfare Party Deputy Chairman Doğan Aydal stated, "Targeting a figure like Numan Kurtulmuş with such ugly accusations is an attack on the country's common values. The Parliament is a place for generating ideas, not insults," while the Chairman of the Great Unity Party, Mustafa Destici, said, "The language used against Mr. Kurtulmuş harms the national will and the dignity of the Parliament. Criticism of ideas is one thing, personal attacks are another."
