The Serbian team Partizan was fined 40,000 euros due to a racist banner displayed by Serbian fans during the match against Fenerbahçe Beko in the 12th week of the EuroLeague.

In a statement from EuroLeague, it was said, "Due to the numerous incidents caused by Partizan Belgrade fans during the Fenerbahçe Beko match, a fine of 40,000 euros has been imposed on the club, and it has been decided that their home matches will be played with a limit of 80% of the stadium capacity."

The European League stated that the penalty for partially playing without spectators has been conditionally suspended for the 2025-26 season, but this penalty will be enforced if the club violates the rules.

FENERBAHÇE HAD FILED A COMPLAINT

In the 12th week of the league, during the match where Fenerbahçe Beko defeated Partizan 99-87 away, Serbian fans displayed a banner depicting Milos Obilić, who was martyred by stabbing Ottoman Sultan Murad I during the First Kosovo War in 1389.

While chants against Turks were made for minutes in the stands, the scandalous banner caused a great backlash.

Cem Ciritci, a member of the Board of Directors responsible for Fenerbahçe Basketball, stated that they had filed complaints with the necessary authorities regarding the ugly incident, but the officials allowed the offensive banner to be displayed despite all warnings.
