The defendant Mert D., who is accused of secretly filming women by placing a camera in the restroom of his workplace in Istanbul, has been sentenced to 1 year in prison.
The case of the defendant Mert D., who is alleged to have recorded obscene images of women entering the toilet by placing hidden cameras in certain areas of his workplace in Istanbul, has been concluded. The hearing, held at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance, was attended by the lawyers of both parties.
OPINION ANNOUNCED
During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor announced his opinion on the merits of the case, stating that there were 72 video recordings and 11 photographs among the seized materials. It was reported that a man wearing glasses was seen approaching the camera located in what appeared to be a toilet on different dates, looking at it, picking it up, and then placing it back.
IT WAS STATED THAT SECRET RECORDINGS WERE MADE
In the announced opinion, it was prepared that these cameras recorded obscene images of different women entering the toilet, and it was noted that the defendant Mert D. recorded the images and sounds of the complainants by placing hidden cameras in certain areas of his workplace.
REQUEST FOR UP TO 6 YEARS IN PRISON
In the opinion, it was requested that the defendant Mert D. be sentenced to imprisonment of 2 to 6 years for the crime of 'violating the privacy of private life by recording images or sounds.' During the hearing, the complainant's lawyer stated that their complaints were ongoing and requested the punishment of the defendant. The defendant's lawyer, on the other hand, requested the acquittal of his client.
SENTENCED TO 1 YEAR IN PRISON
The court, announcing its decision, sentenced the defendant Mert D. to 1 year in prison for the crime of 'violating the privacy of private life by recording images or sounds' in a repeated manner. It was also learned that the defendant was tried by the Istanbul 29th Criminal Court of First Instance and received a sentence of 4 years in prison.
