On Sunday, winter weather will once again make its presence felt in Istanbul. While temperatures are expected to drop to 6 degrees across the city, precipitation is predicted to mostly occur as sleet, with occasional snowfall in higher areas.
Recently, a new cold wave warning has been issued for the weekend following the surprise snowfall that occurred. Meteorology Expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen drew attention to the sudden drop in temperatures, calling on citizens to take precautions, especially for Sunday.
SNOW EXPECTED IN MARMARA AND WESTERN BLACK SEA
The most significant meteorological development of the weekend will be the sharp drop in temperatures. According to Prof. Dr. Şen's assessments, tomorrow, especially in the Marmara Region, the air temperature in the northern and western parts of the country will suddenly decrease by 8 to 9 degrees. With this drop, it is predicted that snowfall will again be effective in Thrace and the Western Black Sea.
WINTER CONDITIONS RETURNING TO ISTANBUL
In Istanbul, winter conditions will also be felt again on Sunday. While the temperature in the megacity is expected to drop to 6 degrees, it is anticipated that the precipitation will generally be in the form of mixed rain and snow, with some areas in higher elevations possibly turning to snow.
