While the ban on Instagram continues, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made noteworthy statements about the recent developments.

After his speech at Çukurova International Airport, Minister Uraloğlu inspected the works on site. Later, in a conference hall, Minister Uraloğlu met with journalists and answered their questions.

"WE ARE NOT IN A RESTRICTIVE MINDSET"

When asked about the recent events regarding social media platforms, Minister Uraloğlu said, "First of all, we don't have such a plan. We don't shut them down based on their actions. We are not in such an approach at all. Look, we are talking about up to 60 million social media users here. In the end, I have accounts on almost every platform. I, and our team, use them. We are really trying to expand this approach rather than being in a restrictive or censored mindset."

Uraloğlu emphasized that the democratic approach they demonstrate as a country is not shown by these social media platforms, saying, "I'm saying this very clearly. They can block or remove your account without any notification. They can completely block some posts. After all, this is a private company. Of course, it will have its own rules and regulations, but they can do things against your laws depending on the situation. Therefore, we are in favor of the continuation of the activities of social media platforms. We are not in a banned mindset at all. If social media platforms were as freedom-oriented as us, you wouldn't be asking me this question today."

"WE REALLY WANT TO RESOLVE THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"

Minister Uraloğlu stated that they are in contact with the managements of all social media platforms, saying, "We are in contact with Instagram and other social media platforms. We had some issues that we reported before. We have reported some issues in the recent period as well. What do we have here? We have what we call catalog crimes, issues related to the sensitivities of our society and our country, and we constantly report them. We have reached a certain point again yesterday. We really want to resolve this as soon as possible. We do not have an active work on a new social media ban. But we are following and monitoring it in any case."

In continuation of his words, Minister Uraloğlu said, "We, as the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), were in the process of implementing the decision of the Adana Criminal Court of Peace regarding the blocking of a children's game block or portal. We did that. Let me say this; it had not come to my agenda that there is such a platform and it has so many followers. But when we look at the justifications of the court, we need to look at where our children are together. These are our children. That's why I leave it to your judgment. We only intervened in terms of the application, but when we look further, I was really saddened for our children there."
