During a road check by the gendarmerie in Samsun, the bloodstains found on the alcoholic driver Yücel Günegül revealed a horrific murder. Günegül confessed to killing his wife by repeatedly hitting her on the head with a glass while on the balcony. It was also learned that Günegül had previously been issued a restraining order for threatening his wife and that he had stabbed his daughter in the past.
In the Asarcık district of Samsun, gendarmerie teams stopped a driver they suspected during a road control. The driver, Yücel Günegül (48), was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and the gendarmerie took action upon noticing blood stains on him.
HE CONFESSED TO KILLING HIS WIFE WITH A GLASS During the interrogation, Günegül confessed to killing his wife. It was determined that Günegül killed his wife Fatma Günegül (41), the mother of his four children, by repeatedly hitting her on the head with a cup on the balcony of their home located in the Hacınaibli neighborhood of the Canik district.
A COMPREHENSIVE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED Following the death of Fatma Günegül, a comprehensive investigation has been launched. The suspect, Yücel Günegül, has been taken into custody, while the gendarmerie continues its multifaceted examination of the incident.
The suspect Yücel Günegül HE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN ISSUED A RESTRAINING ORDER As part of the investigation, it was learned that a restraining order was issued against Yücel Günegül on March 22 for threatening his wife, and at that time, his wife had moved to a women's shelter, later returning to her home of her own accord.
The murdered Fatma Günegül HE HAD ALSO STABBED HIS DAUGHTER IN THE PAST On the evening of April 9, it was determined that Yücel Günegül went to the home where a restraining order was in place in the Rasathane neighborhood of İlkadım, had an argument with his daughter Serpil Günegül (24), and during the argument, he stabbed his daughter. He was arrested by the court after the incident and was released from prison on July 9.
