The MIT and the General Directorate of Security conducted an operation in Syria against a 14-member family connected to the terrorist organization ISIS, who killed and buried a person named Binali Aslan after renting his vehicle. In the ensuing clash, 8 of the suspects were killed, 2 were injured, and 4 were captured alive.
The statement from the Ministry of Interior regarding the matter is as follows: "It has been determined that a 14-member family, which adopted the views of the ISIS terrorist organization, rented the vehicle of our citizen Binali Aslan and subsequently killed him, has crossed into Syria;
As a result of the coordinated efforts of our MIT Presidency, the Intelligence Department of the General Directorate of Security, and the Counter-Terrorism Department, it has been established that the suspects were staying at an address in the Idlib-Atme region of Syria.
In a coordinated operation conducted with the Syrian Internal Security Service, when the suspects responded to calls to surrender with gunfire, 8 of them were killed, 2 were injured, and 4 were captured alive in the ensuing clash.
The suspects captured in Syria have been returned to our country.
During the operations conducted on the routes of the stolen vehicle; during the search and scanning activities jointly carried out by the Mersin Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Mersin Provincial Police Department in the village of Kaburgediği in the Tarsus district of Mersin, our citizen B.A., the owner of the vehicle, was found buried in a forested area.
After it was determined that the family had stayed at the residence of individuals named M.A. and N.S. in Ankara before the incident, the suspects were captured by our Ankara Provincial Police Department and were arrested by the court to which they were referred.
We wish God's mercy upon our deceased citizen and patience to his family and loved ones.
We congratulate our Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, our MIT officials, our EGM Intelligence Department, our Counter-Terrorism Department, the Syrian Internal Security Service, our Mersin Provincial Gendarmerie Command, our Mersin and Ankara Provincial Police Departments, and our Heroic Police Officers."
