Erol Bulut, the former head coach of Fenerbahçe, made a statement about his time with the Yellow-Navy Blues. Admitting that he wanted the transfer of Bakasetas, Bulut said, "I was the leader in the first half. We suggested that 1-2 players should be brought in during the break. We wanted Bakasetas again. He wasn't signed. We turned to other transfers. The players who came either arrived injured or were not ready."
Former Fenerbahçe coach Erol Bulut made statements regarding his period at the Yellow-Navy Blues during a live broadcast on HT Sports. Erol Bulut made striking remarks about the transfers during that period.
"I COULDN'T BUILD THE TEAM I WANTED AT FENERBAHÇE"
Erol Bulut, who stated that he couldn't build the team he wanted at Fenerbahçe, said, "I always took over teams in difficult situations. When I went to Malatya, they had just been promoted to the league. I arrived in the sixth week, and we finished 10th that year. The following year, we took them to Europe. The situation in Alanya was clear. We went to Europe, and we played in the final of the cup. When I went to Fenerbahçe, there was a Fenerbahçe that couldn't go to Europe for two seasons before me. It was a troubled period. The pandemic period. We couldn't play in front of our fans. We couldn't fully realize the transfers we wanted. I couldn't build the team I wanted. I could talk a lot about that. Who we wanted, who we got, who was not taken." he said.
"INJURED PLAYERS CAME"
Erol Bulut stated that injured players who were not ready for the team were brought in during the transfer window, saying, "I have 5 months left for the championship. Would you want to bring in an injured player or a ready player in 5 months? It's a natural question. Every coach can answer that. My leader says we will bring in 2-3 players. Either injured or unfit players came during the transfer window. They were quality players, but they were players who wouldn't be beneficial. If the transfers I wanted had come, we could have achieved that championship. I don't want to talk too boldly, but it wouldn't even have gone to the last match." he expressed.
"UNWANTED PLAYERS WERE BROUGHT IN"
The experienced coach, who stated that unwanted players were brought into the team by the management, said, "They weren't bad players; good players were brought in, but I had indicated at that time that we couldn't progress with these players within the system I wanted to implement. For some reason, after I signed, unwanted players were signed with a few people. I experienced those troubles. Unwanted players were brought in. I don't know if they were brought in by Emre Belözoğlu or by the management. We brought in a player named Perotti. It was reported by our doctor, and it became a topic. He was a very quality player. He was playing in Roma, transferred at the age of 30-31, but he had experienced 300 days of injury in the last 3 years; he had an injury. When the name came up, we analyzed it, said he was a quality player, an injured player, and that he shouldn't have been brought in. He played in 5 matches. He did good things in those 5 matches. We need continuity. He got injured again and ended the season. I can mention a few more like that." he commented.
"I WANTED BAKASETAS, HE WAS NOT BROUGHT IN"
Erol Bulut also admitted that he wanted to transfer Bakasetas but was not able to, saying, "I submitted a report regarding Bakasetas, whom I worked with in Alanya, and I have been saying since I came that I wanted him. But we could never get him. At that time, discussions were held with Alanyaspor. His transfer fee wasn't very high, but he wasn't brought in. You have brought in 3-4 players who won't give you much return. I was leading in the first half. We said to bring in 1-2 players during the transfer window. We wanted Bakasetas again. He was not brought in. We turned to other transfers. The friends who came either arrived injured or were unfit players." he stated.
