Following the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Kütahya, it has come to light that Prof. Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy made a statement last month predicting an earthquake in Simav. Üşümezsoy stated, "There is a 40-kilometer fault in Simav. Ten kilometers of that fault was broken in 2011. There is a potential for a 6.5 magnitude earthquake there."
