As the war between the US-Israel and Iran continues into its third day, claims that a US military base located in Turkey has been attacked have caused an uproar. The Communications Directorate, which denied the claim reported by some media outlets, stated, "Turkey's defense and security structure is fully operational with all its components, and the processes are being monitored in real-time by the relevant institutions. We kindly request the public not to give credence to unfounded claims."
While the war between the US-Israel and Iran continues, the claim that "an American military base located in Turkey has been hit" has become a topic of public discussion on social media. Following these claims, a swift statement was made by the Communication Presidency's Disinformation Combat Center.
A STATEMENT FROM THE COMMUNICATION PRESIDENCY
In the statement, it was noted that the mentioned shares do not reflect the truth, and the following expressions were included: "The claims that 'an American military base located in Turkey has been hit,' which are found on some social media accounts, are not true.
"THERE IS NO ATTACK ON OUR COUNTRY"
There is no military base belonging to any country in Turkey. The air, land, and sea territory of the Republic of Turkey, along with its military facilities, are completely under its own sovereignty and control. There is no attack on our country, and the shares aimed at portraying Turkey as a party to regional conflicts are a clear attempt at disinformation.
Turkey's defense and security structure is fully operational with all its components, and the processes are being monitored in real-time by the relevant institutions. It is strongly requested that the public does not give credence to baseless claims and only considers the statements of official authorities."
