Search efforts continue uninterrupted to find 43-year-old Huriye Helvacı and her 5-year-old son Osman Helvacı, who disappeared after leaving their home in the Bozkurt district of Kastamonu on Sunday, November 2.
MOTHER: SHE LEFT AFTER A SMALL ARGUMENT AT HOME While the search continues in the area where the last phone signal was received, Huriye Helvacı's mother Ayşe Hıra and sister Ayşe Çalık spoke. Ayşe Hıra stated that her daughter had a small argument with her son-in-law on the morning of November 2, and then left the house with her son without saying where she was going.
"IF ANYONE HAS SEEN OR HEARD MY DAUGHTER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW" Calling out to her daughter, Ayşe Hıra said, "I want my daughter to come back as soon as possible. I have a son-in-law. I stay with him in winter and go to my village in summer. I saw my daughter off when she left the house. I asked her, 'Where are you going?' but she didn't answer me. She took her bag and Osman and left. In the morning, the child was taking the water here, and he said, 'Don't drink that water, I'm drinking that water.'"
"MY DAUGHTER, IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, COME HOME" Ayşe Hıra continued her words: "My son-in-law also yelled at her. I know this. My daughter, if you can hear me, come home, I miss my grandson very much. I can't drink anything, I can't sleep, I can't rest. Osman grew up in my hands, he has been with me since he was born. I have been with him for 5 years. If anyone has seen or heard my daughter, please let me know," she said.
"I SPOKE WITH MY SISTER ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, SHE DIDN'T TELL ME ANYTHING" Huriye Helvacı's sister Ayşe Çalık stated, "I live in Istanbul. I spoke with my sister around 1 PM on Sunday. She left home 10 minutes after I spoke with her. On Monday at 4 PM, she called me and said, 'Your sister is missing, I can't reach her.' On Monday evening, I took a bus and came here. The reason for our phone conversation was that my sister had brought mushrooms from Istanbul. I also posted about it on social media. In the meantime, my sister saw the post and called me, we chatted. She asked, 'Did you buy the mushrooms?' I said, 'Your sister picked them, she brought them in the evening, and we will cook and eat them.' Then I spoke with my nephew Osman, he asked, 'Aunt, how are you? Are you coming to the village?' I didn't sense anything wrong. My sister didn't mention going anywhere, and she didn't answer my mother when she left the house. When she was leaving, my mother asked, 'Where are you going, my daughter?' and she said, 'Come home early in the evening, your husband won't come, he will be late. Where are you going?' She didn't answer my mother either, and a neighbor saw her leaving and asked, 'Huriye, where are you going?' but she didn't answer that either," she said.
"I DON'T THINK MY SISTER RAN AWAY" Ayşe Çalık stated that she has no information about any family issues between her sister and her husband, saying, "I don't think my sister ran away. I mean, if someone runs away, they take money with them, right? The money is at home, she didn't take any clothes or laundry. She only took her phone, a bottle of water, and her wallet in her backpack. I don't think she had much money on her. Because you don't carry a lot of money with you; if you find money, you spend it. There has never been a similar incident of her going missing before. Her daughter is 16 years old; they have some arguments, but she is studying away from home. These are simple things that happen in every household. When she was asked to do something, she wouldn't do it, and then she would get scolded. As far as I know, we would meet when we came to the village. As far as I know, her relationship with her husband was also good. I have not witnessed any situation," she said.
"I DON'T THINK MY SISTER RAN AWAY" Ayşe Çalık stated that she learned her sister had a small argument with her husband in the morning, saying, "Osman drank water from his mother's bottle. He said, 'Don't drink from my bottle, drink from your own bottle.' Her husband yelled at him, 'Why are you yelling at the child? Let him drink.' I don't think she ran away. She went out again for a walk that day. She was going to return home or she had already asked for directions. Why would someone who ran away ask for directions? May God bless everyone who contributed; our state is with us. If anyone has seen or heard anything, please let us know. Was she kidnapped, is she being held somewhere? The person who picked her up on the day my sister went missing is my mother's aunt's son. He saw her on the road, picked her up, and said, 'I don't know her; I never looked back.' Then he said he learned it was her. There are also people who saw him drop her off by car," she said.
Meanwhile, search efforts are ongoing in Yaşarlı village, which is the village of Huriye Helvacı's mother.
