In the studio of Haberler.com, Suat Kılıç, the Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party, answered questions from Olgun Kızıltepe and Melis Yaşar, making important statements regarding current issues.

TRANSITION FROM AK PARTY TO NEW WELFARE

Appointed as the Minister of Youth and Sports in the cabinet announced by then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2011, Suat Kılıç took a break from politics due to the three-term rule and later made a surprising decision by resigning from the AK Party and joining the ranks of the New Welfare Party. During a period when the question of whether Ahmet Davutoğlu and Ali Babacan would join the AK Party was being discussed, we directed a similar question to Suat Kılıç.

DID HE REGRET LEAVING?

Kılıç responded to the question, "Do you regret leaving the AK Party?" by saying, "I have no place in my life where I say 'I wish'. I was already a member of the AK Party when I left. You have memories with people you see on the road, and those people have a place in your life. In this sense, Mr. Erdoğan also has a place in our lives. Personally, I have never had such a thought as going back, feeling regret, or opening a path there again. We lived the past beautifully, we collected beautiful memories. Today, when I walk on the streets, if people remember my ministry, which ended 10 years ago, I thank my Lord a thousand times, alhamdulillah, we are really good," he replied.

THE BABACAN AND DAVUTOĞLU ISSUE

Addressing the issue of whether Babacan and Davutoğlu would join the AK Party, Kılıç stated, "I cannot say anything on behalf of Mr. Davutoğlu. I cannot say anything on behalf of Mr. Babacan either. God created us from nothing. Other than that, we have no existential debt to any mortal. Mr. Davutoğlu is from Boğaziçi. Mr. Babacan is from METU. I am a graduate of Ankara Law. We all received valuable education in the good schools and institutions of the Republic. However, the experience and knowledge we have in terms of our statesmanship were certainly developed within the framework of the opportunities presented by Mr. Erdoğan in the cabinet and parliament. Neither we can deny this, nor can he. If there is dissatisfaction from the road companions, it means their choices were wrong. Sometimes, perhaps out of anger, he may have made statements that he himself might have later regretted. It has never been about me. It has happened at different times regarding Mr. Şimşek, Mr. Babacan, and Mr. Davutoğlu. I think he has also felt discomfort from those statements. Because especially in positions like the ministry, he has trusted the people he appointed. And these names I know have never betrayed his trust. We have never betrayed his trust," he expressed.

WILL ÖCALAN BE RELEASED?

Evaluating the process of a Turkey without terrorism, Kılıç indicated that Öcalan could be released at the end of the process, stating, "Those who impose the abolition of the death penalty while handing him over to Turkey are also the ones who plan that he will be released from prison after serving 25 years. Let’s know this as well. When Abdullah Öcalan is packaged and handed over to Turkey, you will abolish the death penalty, you will keep this man alive. Those who impose on Turkey that you will not apply the death penalty are also the ones who are aware of the conditions under which Abdullah Öcalan was handed over. Therefore, I know and see that the goal in the ongoing process is to release Öcalan, but I absolutely do not wish for that. Öcalan should not be released," he said.

REFERENCE TO SÜLEYMAN SOYLU

Kılıç expressed that the terrorist organization should be completely eliminated from the Middle East, stating, "In such an environment, all kinds of peace can be discussed. But until recently, didn’t our ministers fighting against terrorism say, 'The number of PKK members in Turkey has fallen below a hundred'? If the number of armed terrorists is below 100, why is it so meaningful and important for only the PKK to lay down its arms or be eliminated? Sometimes we think, together with our General Chairman Dr. Fatih Erbakan, do they really not understand what we are saying? Do they understand but pretend not to? Or are we saying very outrageous things? Look, what we say is very clear; we tell this to our political counterparts. We support the process of a Turkey without terrorism, but we do not find it sufficient for the PKK to burn 50 Kalashnikovs in the foothills of Kandil," he stated.
