The lifeless body of Osman Nuri Civelek, the former Mayor of Azdavay district in Kastamonu, was found in a pond. The body of Civelek, who was taken out of the pond, was transferred to the hospital's morgue.
Relatives of Osman Nuri Civelek, who served as the mayor of the Azdavay district of Kastamonu from the AK Party for 4 terms between 2004-2024, could not reach him as of yesterday. Following the report from his relatives, search and rescue teams from the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK), the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and the National Medical Rescue (UMKE) initiated search operations during the night.
SEARCH OPERATIONS FOCUSED ON THE POND
During the searches, Civelek's vehicle was found near the pond in the Suğla Plateau, connected to the Azdavay district. Following this, teams began search operations in the pond. The teams, who could not find any trace of Civelek throughout the night, continued their search activities in the morning hours. As a result of the operations conducted with drones from the air and boats in the pond, Civelek's lifeless body was reached. Civelek's body was retrieved from the pond by JAK, UMKE, and AFAD teams.
RELATIVES EXPERIENCED NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS
After the examination by the Crime Scene Investigation teams, Civelek's body was taken to the morgue of Azdavay State Hospital. Additionally, teams conducted investigations in the abandoned vehicle belonging to Civelek. Relatives who arrived after receiving the news of Civelek's death experienced nervous breakdowns, while the investigation into the incident continues.
