Neşe Özkan (27), who lived in Bursa and became a social media phenomenon thanks to a television program, passed away on December 18 after undergoing a tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery at a private hospital in the Gaziosmanpaşa district of Istanbul. Her husband, İskender Özkan, claimed that there was negligence in the death of his wife, who was reported to have died due to cardiac arrest. THE GRAVE OF THE YOUNG PHENOMENON WHO DIED A WEEK AGO WAS OPENEDİskender Özkan alleged that the necessary tests were not properly conducted before his wife's surgery. Ayşegül Mermer, İskender Özkan's lawyer, pointed out that despite the suspicious nature of the young phenomenon's death, no autopsy was performed. Mermer announced that the judicial process regarding the matter had begun and stated that, upon the instruction of the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Özkan's grave in Bursa was opened. "NEGLIGENCE LED TO DEATH"In a written statement, Mermer said, "Despite Neşe Özkan stating that she had undergone heart surgery in the past, she was directed to surgery without the necessary tests being conducted and without her consent regarding the risks. The absence of her doctor in the operating room and the failure to monitor the patient's condition, along with many other negligent behaviors, have caused her death. Despite the suspicious nature of Neşe Özkan's death, no autopsy was performed. Our request for the opening of Özkan's grave in Bursa for an autopsy to determine the responsible parties and negligent behaviors has been deemed appropriate by the Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The body, which was exhumed with necessary precautions, has been transferred to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy procedures. We believe that all responsible parties and negligence will be revealed following Neşe Özkan's autopsy." HER FUNERAL WAS REINTERREDNeşe Özkan's body, which was taken from the grave opened under expert supervision yesterday, was reinterred today after the examination conducted at the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institution.
