At the Edirne Kapıkule Border Gate, a wrong SMS sent to truck drivers waiting to exit the country caused a queue of approximately 10 kilometers. Truck driver Sedat Öztürk said, "When everyone suddenly left, it caused chaos. We have been waiting here for 35 hours."
The incorrect message sent to truck drivers waiting to exit abroad at the Kapıkule Border Gate in Edirne caused confusion. Due to the wrong SMS, a queue of approximately 10 kilometers formed at the border gate, and drivers had to wait for hours.
WRONG SMS CAUSED A 10-KILOMETER QUEUE AT THE BORDER GATE
Truck drivers who set out to deliver export loads to their destinations found the roads filled with trucks when they received a message on their mobile phones while waiting in the truck parks.
"IT WAS A SYSTEMIC ERROR"
Truck driver Halit Kayaç, who set out for Germany, said, "We set off with the message sent by the Customs Tourism Enterprises (GTİ). Now you see the situation. It was said that it was a systemic error, but it is currently not possible to correct the situation," he stated.
Truck driver Hüseyin Güloğlu indicated that first the truck documents are submitted and then they need to wait in the truck parks for their turn. Güloğlu stated, "To get a queue number, the documents are submitted to GTİ along with the exit documents we call T1. We start waiting with the documents given to us until the next message arrives. Today, when we received this message, we immediately set off, and now we will wait to be let in due to this mistake," he expressed.
"WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 35 HOURS"
Sedat Öztürk, who set out to deliver his load to Europe, said, "I arrived at the Kapıkule border gate in Edirne two days ago at 07:00 to get a queue number. While waiting in line, we received a message and set off. When everyone suddenly left, the situation got chaotic. We have been waiting here for 35 hours," he said.
