On October 31, 2024, around 21:00, a brutal incident occurred at an entertainment venue in Sinan Neighborhood, Burdur. Feuding individuals Ramazan Uçar (36) and Hüseyin Mete (42) encountered each other at the same venue.
HE KILLED HIS RIVAL WITHOUT BLINKING After eating nuts, Ramazan Uçar fired 7 shots at Hüseyin Mete, who was chatting with a woman at the adjacent table, using the gun he had on him. As Mete collapsed to the ground, those in the venue fled in panic. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the address upon notification. The investigation revealed that Hüseyin Mete had lost his life. After the examination, Hüseyin Mete's body was placed in the morgue. Ramazan Uçar, who fled the scene, was captured and arrested by the police. An aggravated life imprisonment case was filed against Ramazan Uçar for 'premeditated murder.'
HE APPEARED IN COURT In the first hearing at the Burdur 2nd High Criminal Court, the arrested defendant Ramazan Uçar participated via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). In the courtroom, Uçar's lawyer, along with Hüseyin Mete's mother Sevilay, father Nihat Mete, and sister Nilgün Mumcu, were present.
ALLEGATION OF "HE STOLE MY GUN" During the hearing, the arrested defendant Ramazan Uçar claimed that his licensed firearm was stolen by Hüseyin Mete. He alleged that Hüseyin Mete constantly asked for money to return the gun and threatened him, stating that he went to Hüseyin Mete's house with a friend and got the weapon after giving him 50,000 lira.
"MY PSYCHOLOGY DISTURBED, I PANICKED WHEN HE CAME AT ME" Ramazan Uçar stated the following in his testimony: "On the day of the incident, after drinking alcohol in the industrial area, I went to the venue where the incident occurred. Hüseyin Mete had been calling me on the phone asking about the money, and I couldn't stand it and blocked him. I wasn't going to enter the venue. At the entrance, I asked the manager if Hüseyin Mete was inside. When I received the answer 'No, he hasn't come for 5-6 days,' I entered the venue. When I entered, no one was there. I was anxious because I was afraid of Hüseyin; I was on edge. I thought about paying the bill and leaving. While I was drinking my second beer, Hüseyin came into the venue. He first sat at a table at the entrance, then came to the table next to me. He greeted me, but I didn't respond. He asked, 'Why didn't you respond to my greeting?' I told him I was angry with him for what he had done to me and that I wouldn't engage with him. He said, 'I will eat and drink here, and you will pay the bill; do you trust your gun?' I got very angry, I pointed the gun at my waist, then I changed my mind. Realizing I had pointed the gun, Hüseyin said to me, 'Thank the camera; I will settle the score with you outside.' I was very affected; I thought about how he would harm my children and family, and the curses, threats, and pressures would never end, which disturbed my psychology. Then I fired a shot. When Hüseyin came at me, I panicked and got scared. After that, I don't remember how many shots I fired. I left the venue, thinking about escaping. I buried the gun under a tree. Later, I returned to the scene and surrendered to the police. I showed the police where the gun was. Hüseyin is someone feared in the village, known to use drugs. However, he had never asked me for protection money before. I am very sorry and regretful about the incident."
REQUEST FOR PUNISHMENT AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL Hüseyin Mete's family stated that the defendant carried out the act with premeditation and requested that he be punished at the highest level. After hearing the witnesses, the court panel decided to continue the defendant's detention and adjourned the hearing.
