Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler visited Şırnak within the framework of the "Always Together, From Our Essence to the Future Turkey Meetings." Minister Güler was welcomed in Şırnak with Kurdish songs accompanied by a daf.
As part of the program, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler held a press conference at a hotel following a consultation meeting with party members at the AK Party Provincial Headquarters. In his statement, Minister Güler said, "Şırnak is one of our country's most distinguished cities with the opportunities, capabilities, and riches it possesses in many areas. Despite all its beauties, Şırnak has unfortunately suffered greatly from terrorism for years, the region's development has lagged, and it has failed to show its true potential. However, thanks to the sacrifices and dedication of our heroic Mehmetçik, our security forces, our village guards, and most importantly, you, my Şırnak brothers and sisters, significant successes have been achieved in the fight against terrorism. With the establishment of security and peace in the region, investments and prosperity have also begun to increase. Our state is working tirelessly with all its institutions and organizations to erase the traces of terrorism from the region and to ensure the rapid development of these beautiful lands," he said.
"MOVING TOWARDS BECOMING THE CAPITAL OF OIL"
Stating that the largest oil discovery in the history of the Republic was made in Şırnak and that more than 40% of Turkey's oil production comes from Şırnak, Minister Güler said, "Great investments and projects are being implemented in every field, from transportation to health, from education to sports, from agriculture to livestock, and from environmental urbanism to tourism, and Şırnak is developing more and more each day. Now, the Gabar and Kato Mountains are known for oil, not terrorism. New oil fields are being discovered, and oil production is increasing. The fact that the largest oil discovery in the history of our Republic was made in Şırnak is also a source of pride for us. Currently, with a target of 100,000 barrels of daily production, Şırnak is confidently moving towards becoming the capital of oil. Indeed, more than 40% of Turkey's daily oil production is carried out in Gabar. Rest assured that Şırnak will develop with oil and will be the star of the region. In addition, investments in the energy sector continue," he stated.
"HABUR BORDER GATE IS AN IMPORTANT SOURCE OF INCOME"
Pointing out that the Habur Border Gate located in the Silopi district of Şırnak is an important source of income for Turkey, Minister Güler said, "Şırnak also serves as a bridge in regional trade. The Habur Border Gate in Silopi is an important source of income as it is a border gate of our country opening to Iraq and the Middle East. Currently, the construction of connection roads between Şırnak's districts and surrounding provinces is ongoing. In agriculture and livestock, significant support is being provided to our farmers, especially through irrigation and grant assistance, to fully realize the city's great potential in these areas. Şırnak has become a rising star in peanut production in recent years. Our Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry provides the necessary support in this regard. Efforts related to access to water are being carried out in towns and villages to contribute to our farmers' production and increase agricultural productivity," he said.
Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler was accompanied by Deputy Ministers Şuay Alpay, Bilal Durdalı, AK Party Elazığ Deputy Prof. Dr. Erol Keleş, Batman Deputy Ferhat Nasıroğlu, Şırnak Deputy Aslan Tatar, and Şırnak Mayor Mehmet Yarka.
