A 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred last night at a depth of 17 kilometers on the Greek tourist island of Santorini. Authorities stated that the earthquake, which struck Santorini Island and was also felt in the capital, Athens, is the strongest recorded in recent times.
Earthquakes continue in the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean Sea, especially on the tourism island of Santorini. Santorini Island has shaken once again.

In Santorini, which has been hit by various magnitudes of earthquakes for days, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred last night at a depth of 17 kilometers. Authorities stated that the earthquake, which struck Santorini and was also felt in the capital Athens, is the strongest recorded earthquake in recent times. Officials reported no damage or injuries.

Additionally, it was recorded that at least 3 earthquakes occurred on Sunday, the largest being 4.0, and 3 earthquakes greater than 4.0 occurred yesterday morning.
MORE THAN 12,000 EARTHQUAKES
Santorini, one of the most preferred destinations for tourists, has been frequently shaken since January. The Athens University Seismology Laboratory has detected more than 12,800 earthquakes in the region. Due to the seismic activity in the area, landslides have also been observed in some parts of Santorini. Authorities reported that at least 11,000 people have left the island since the tremors began on January 26. Schools in Santorini are still closed.
STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED UNTIL MARCH 1
In a statement from the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, it was announced that a state of emergency (SoE) had been declared on Santorini until March 1 due to the ongoing tremors increasing the risk of landslides and rockfalls.
