The municipal officer who reprimanded a citizen in need while delivering food has been suspended from duty.

The chief of the municipal police affiliated with the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, who scolded a needy citizen to whom he was delivering food by saying, "The state has sent you soup, chickpeas, and rice! If it's little, you'll eat little, uncle! Did you earn the money for this?" has been suspended from his position.

Images of a municipal police officer working for the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality scolding an elderly citizen who complained, "The meals are insufficient," have drawn significant backlash.

"DID YOU EARN THE MONEY FOR THIS?"

The police chief confronted the citizen by saying, "What do you not like about this meal? The state has sent you soup, chickpeas, and rice! If it's not enough, you will eat less, uncle! Did you earn the money for this? If the state gives you this, you will eat it! If you have money, go earn it. From now on, you will eat this. You will eat it in the morning, you will eat it at noon, you will eat it in the evening, and you will eat it at night," he said.

"IF IT'S NOT ENOUGH, YOU WILL EAT LESS"

Continuing with even harsher remarks towards the citizen, the police chief stated: "The state is sending you food. Who are you? Who are you? Don't call the municipality unnecessarily again. If it's not enough, you will eat less! Don't call the police again!"

DISMISSED FROM DUTY

Following the controversial footage, Ordu Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler stated, "The municipal police officer in question, who has wounded all our consciences, has been suspended and dismissed from duty by me. It is not possible for any personnel who displays a lack of conscience to remain in our institution, regardless of who they are. No one can point a finger at the citizens we serve," he said.
