The owner of the car, Cevdet Turahan, said, "I have suffered a lot with this car. It has had engine problems twice. I have tried everything. People hit my car every day. So when I saw it like this, I wasn't sad; I was happy. Just cover it up and let it go."
An sinkhole that formed in a vacant lot in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul completely swallowed a parked vehicle. The moment was recorded by a mobile phone camera. The vehicle owner expressed that he was not upset about the incident, but rather happy.
SOIL SLIDE SWALLOWED A BIG CAR
Due to the collapse that occurred in a vacant lot in Battalgazi Neighborhood, the parked car fell into the pit along with the sliding soil. Police and municipal teams were dispatched to the area upon notification. Police teams took security measures around the area and closed the street with tape. İSKİ teams also arrived at the point located within the İSKİ protection area by the riverbank to conduct an inspection. While it was assessed that there could be a risk around the collapse, a safety tape was drawn to prevent access to the land as a precaution.
"IT IS CONTINUOUSLY EXPANDING"
The car owner, Cevdet Turahan, said, "I have suffered a lot from this car. It has had engine problems twice. I have experienced everything. They hit my car every day. That's why I wasn't upset when I saw this, I was happy. There's nothing to be done. Someone called to buy it, and I told them I was sending it away. I will give them whatever they want, ayran, soup, whatever, just let it go. I have never smiled because of this car. Just bury it," he said.
Neighborhood resident Hakan Aktaş stated that they encountered such an event for the first time in the area, saying, "I saw the car fall into the pit while passing by here in the morning. I immediately informed the municipal teams. It is continuously expanding like the sinkholes in Konya. In fact, as you can see right now, the vehicle is completely lost inside," he said.
