The Social Security Institution (SGK) has scrutinized orphan pension payments. The institution, which identified that some of the pensions were irregular, has started to cancel these payments.

Following news reports, the Social Security Institution (SGK) has initiated a detailed investigation into those who are receiving orphan pensions unjustly. Salaries were audited one by one. It was revealed that some of these pensions were irregular in this context.
SGK HAS TAKEN ACTION AGAINST THOSE RECEIVING ORPHAN PENSIONS UNLAWFULLY
It has been determined that many couples have divorced solely to receive orphan pensions, yet they continue to live in the same place after the official divorce. It has been learned that SGK has decided to cancel the pensions for these individuals, who were identified one by one. Additionally, legal proceedings have been initiated against these individuals on the grounds that they defrauded SGK.
THEY ARE DIVORCING SOLELY FOR ORPHAN PENSIONS
Particularly, the timing of fraudulent divorces draws attention. It has been determined that many individuals applied for orphan pensions immediately after the divorce decision. Investigations initiated with the suspicion that these individuals are trying to appear officially divorced solely to receive orphan pensions have revealed the truth. The institution continues to conduct in-depth research to understand whether the divorces are genuine or merely for the purpose of receiving pensions. Evaluating the incoming reports, SGK has started retroactive debt collection processes for those individuals when it was discovered that some divorces were indeed conducted solely for the orphan pension.
