A paramilitary commander in Sudan, Abu Lulu, stands before an unarmed group of men, pointing his weapon at them. He executes nine individuals one by one, as the surrounding soldiers cheer while the bodies pile up on the ground.
These horrifying images come from the city of El Fasher, which was captured by the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) last week. More than 2,000 civilians were slaughtered within 48 hours after the city fell. Abu Lulu boasted in a video that he may have personally killed 2,000 people.
Known as the "Butcher of the Century" on TikTok, Abu Lulu proudly poses in his RSF uniform in his videos and shares scenes of executions. Human rights organizations have repeatedly reported that he has committed war crimes.
The civil war that began in Sudan in April 2023 erupted between the army and the RSF over the future of the country. After an 18-month siege, the RSF captured El Fasher, the army's last stronghold in Darfur. Thousands of people trying to flee the city were subjected to mass executions, looting, and violence.
Satellite images show that the bodies and pools of blood are so dense that they can be seen from space. Yale University's Humanitarian Research Lab confirmed that systematic and planned ethnic cleansing is taking place in the region. The targeted groups were particularly indigenous African communities such as the Fur, Zaghawa, and Berti.
The RSF's attacks were not limited to civilians; they attacked the Saudi Maternity Hospital, killing 460 people and abducting doctors and nurses. A female obstetrician recounted her horror, saying, "I was performing surgery when bullets fell into the hospital, everyone was in panic."
The RSF denied all allegations, describing the events as a "intense propaganda campaign."
The war in Sudan has led to the deaths of tens of thousands and forced millions to flee their homes. As people struggle with hunger and displacement, images of ethnic cleansing and mass executions continue to spread on social media.
