Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu announced that she will file a criminal complaint due to the statements made about her by CHP Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan. Tezcan stated that the detention of Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel was related to Çerçioğlu's transition from CHP to AK Party, using the term "transfer fee."
It has been learned that Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu will file a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the grounds that the statements made by CHP Aydın Member of Parliament Bülent Tezcan about her are "false and defamatory."
"WE WILL FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT"
In a written statement made by Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu's lawyer Eylül Tanrıverdi, a reaction was shown to the statements made by CHP Aydın Member of Parliament Bülent Tezcan that were reflected to the public about Mayor Çerçioğlu. The statement indicated that the statements in question were far from reality and of a defamatory nature, and it was expressed that a legal process regarding the matter would be initiated. Lawyer Tanrıverdi stated, "A criminal complaint will be filed with the competent Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the statements made by CHP Aydın Member of Parliament Bülent Tezcan, which are far from reality and contain defamation against my client, Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu."
WHAT DID BÜLENT TEZCAN SAY ABOUT ÇERÇİOĞLU?
Bülent Tezcan, while speaking about the detention of Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel, made statements regarding Özlem Çerçioğlu and suggested that Günel's detention was related to Çerçioğlu's transition from CHP to the AK Party. Tezcan used the following statements:
"Mr. Ömer Günel is the Mayor of Kuşadası. He is loved in Kuşadası and is among our successful mayors in Turkey, like all mayors of the Republican People's Party. He is also the Deputy Mayor of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, and we know that this setup investigation against Ömer Günel is the transfer fee of Çerçioğlu, who fled to the AK Party some time ago. It seems that one of the transfer fees of Çerçioğlu, who fled to the AK Party, was to take Ömer Günel's head. The plan and account for this are seen here today."
