A 25-year-old man was arrested after being caught on security camera footage forcibly hugging and kissing a woman walking in a deserted street in the Lisari Gate area of Meerut city, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The incident occurred on May 20. While the woman was walking alone on the street, a man named Mohd Suhail approached her on an unregistered motorcycle, kissed her, and fled the scene. According to a report by the Times of India, the woman was heard cursing at the fleeing suspect.
As the security camera footage was widely shared on social media, it sparked significant outrage and raised concerns about women's safety in the area.
Meerut police quickly took action after being informed of the incident. Suhail was identified and arrested shortly thereafter, and he apologized for his actions. Meerut Police Chief Vipin Tada stated that a complaint had been filed and that Suhail would be sent to prison.
According to reports, Suhail was from Ahmednagar. In a video that surfaced on social media, he is seen holding his ears and barely able to walk, saying, "I made a mistake, it won't happen again. Please forgive me." Suhail was brought before the city magistrate and was placed in judicial custody.
