A large crowd gathered in Taksim Square and Istiklal Street just hours before the New Year. Thousands of locals and foreigners chose Beyoğlu for New Year's celebrations, while the police took extensive security measures.
The intensity increased at Taksim Square and Istiklal Street, one of the most important meeting points in Istanbul, just hours before the new year.
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FLOODED ISTIKLAL STREET
Beyoğlu has once again become one of the top choices for thousands of local and foreign visitors wanting to celebrate the new year. As the crowd around Taksim Square grows every hour, visitors filling Istiklal Street are having difficulty walking due to the density.

Additionally, the density of citizens preparing to enter the new year on Istiklal Street was captured by a drone.
EXTENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES
Police teams are taking extensive security measures in the area to ensure that citizens and tourists can spend New Year's Eve in peace. Bag and body searches were conducted at the control points established at the entrance of the street and square.
During the searches, individuals deemed suspicious were subjected to General Information Gathering (GBT) inquiries. The security measures by the teams at Taksim Square and Istiklal Street continue.
