U.S. President Trump announced that he has signed a bill that calls for the release of all documents related to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in prison while being prosecuted for allegedly running a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls.
US President Donald Trump announced on his social media account that he has signed the bill titled "Epstein Files Transparency Act," which was sent to the White House after being approved by Congress.
Trump claimed that the Epstein case is of interest not to him, but to some famous Democrats, including former US President Bill Clinton, and that the release of the files will fully reveal these truths.
The US President, who alleged that Bill Clinton traveled on Epstein's plane 26 times, stated in his announcement, "The truths about the connections between Democrats and Jeffrey Epstein will soon come to light because I signed the bill for the release of the Epstein files."
The bill aimed at the release of the Epstein files, which the American public has been eagerly awaiting for a long time, was approved in both chambers of Congress, where Republicans hold the majority.
This step in Congress came after US President Donald Trump "changed his mind about the release of the files to the public."
THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN CASE
Epstein, who was charged with sexually abusing dozens of girls under the age of 18, including the youngest being 14, and establishing a prostitution ring, was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, New York, on August 10, 2019.
The released Epstein case files included famous names such as Prince Andrew, US President Donald Trump, former US President Bill Clinton, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former US Vice President Al Gore, actor Kevin Spacey, singer Michael Jackson, illusionist David Copperfield, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
The FBI also stated that, as a result of its investigation with the US Department of Justice, there was no evidence that a "client list" of famous names had been kept, and concluded that Epstein, who was alleged to have been murdered to cover up the crimes of individuals including government officials, celebrities, and businessmen, actually committed suicide in his cell.
US journalist Tucker Carlson also claimed that Epstein "worked for Israel, that everyone in Washington thought the same way, but it could not be said openly."
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Epstein's girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell had asked acquaintances to write letters to him on the occasion of his 50th birthday, one of which was allegedly from Trump.
