Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Up At Open

BIST 100 index rises 0.50 percent from previous close; USD/TRY exchange rate stands at 6.2650.

Turkey's stock exchange surged 0.50 percent, or 477.68 points, to open at 96,598.78 points on Friday.



The BIST banking and holding sector indices went up 0.79 percent and 0.31 percent, respectively.



While all sector indices started the day on the rise, the BIST telecommunication index was the top gainer, increasing 0.90 percent.



On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 96,121.10, down 0.50 percent, or 482.65 points, with a trading volume of 10.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion)



The USD/TRY exchange rate stood at 6.2650 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared to 6.2610 at the previous close.



The EURO/TRY exchange rose to 7.3820 by market open, versus 7.3790 at the previous close, while and one British pound traded for 8.3290 Turkish liras -- from 8.3370 on Thursday's close.



The price of Brent oil stood at $78.88 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday, compared to $78.7 on Thursday. -
