Turkiye's Stock Exchange Rises 1.82% At Close

Turkiye's benchmark stock index closed the day at 1,945.07 points on Tuesday, climbing 1.82% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,927.82 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 34.78 points from Monday's close of 1,910.29 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,880.18 points, while its daily high was 1,953.33, with 69 stocks rising, 27 falling, and four flat compared to the previous close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.56 trillion Turkish liras (some $115.6 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 27.8 billion liras ($2.1 billion).

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron and steel producer Kardemir, and private lender Garanti BBVA.

Turkish carmaker Tofas was the best performer of the day, with its shares up 8.07%, while stocks of renewable energy company Aydem saw the sharpest drop of 9.93%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,839.80 by market close on Tuesday, marginally down from 1,839.90 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $86.00 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT).
