An investigation and inquiry have been initiated by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the university administration regarding three staff members who are alleged to have watched pornography during working hours at Mersin University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The allegations reveal that a deputy head nurse witnessed two deputy directors and one deputy head nurse watching pornography during their working hours and reported the situation to the hospital management. However, it is claimed that the hospital management only restricted access to the staff members' computers in order to cover up the incident.
Mersin University (MU) Faculty of Medicine Hospital is under investigation by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the rectorate regarding the allegation that two deputy directors and a deputy head nurse watched pornography during working hours.
According to the information obtained, the porn scandal at the Faculty of Medicine Hospital occurred in February 2021 when Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çamsarı was the rector of Mersin University. Allegedly, G.T, who was the deputy head nurse at that time, witnessed Deputy Directors Y.K and T.Ç watching pornography on the computer together when she entered the office of M.M, who had the same title as her, during working hours. G.T, who was allegedly offered to "come and watch" by M.M, reported the incident to the hospital management. However, the hospital management did not initiate any investigation and only restricted the computers of the managerial staff to cover up the incident.
NEW RECTOR APPOINTED AS DEPUTY HEAD NURSE
G.T, who did not get any result from her complaint about the porn incident to the hospital management, became the Infection Control Committee responsible after her term as deputy head nurse ended in February. M.M, who was accused of watching pornography in his office with two Deputy Directors, was appointed as the head nurse with the appointment of Prof. Dr. Erol Yaşar as the rector in January last year. According to the allegation, the first action of M.M, who was appointed as the head nurse by the new rector, was to remove G.T, with whom he had a previous conflict, from the position of Infection Control Committee responsible and assign her as a nurse on duty in the Dermatology Department.
5-PAGE COMPLAINT PETITION TO YÖK
G.T, who believed that her appointment to the new position was unfair and unjustified, did not get any results from her efforts with the hospital management. Therefore, G.T wrote a 5-page complaint petition, including numerous irregularities and illegalities, including watching pornography during working hours, and handed it over to Sami Yener, the President of Sağlık Sen Mersin Branch, to be delivered to the Higher Education Council. The 5-page petition, which was delivered to the union's headquarters for the necessary action to be taken, was submitted to YÖK for the necessary action to be taken.
