Tension in the region is escalating every minute following Hezbollah's rocket attack that killed 12 Israelis in Lebanon. In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threat of a strong retaliation, Hezbollah has launched attacks on 7 military bases located on the Israeli army's border line.
The Hezbollah Movement in Lebanon announced that it has launched attacks on 7 military bases located on the Israeli army's border.
Hezbollah made a statement about its attack on the Israeli army through its official Telegram account.
ATTACK ON ISRAELI BASES
The statement stated that guided missiles, Katyusha rockets, and appropriate weapons were used to attack the er-Rahib, Malikiye, and Bağdadiye military bases located on the Israeli army's border. In a subsequent statement by Hezbollah, it was reported that the military equipment located in Tel Karantina, the Merkava type tank deployed on the border, and the Abad and Hadab Yarin military bases were hit with guided missiles, Katyusha rockets, and appropriate weapons.
MECDEL ŞEMS ATTACK
It was announced that 12 people, including children, were killed and 35 people, 17 of whom were in critical condition, were injured as a result of a rocket hitting a football field in the Mecdel Şems town in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The Israeli army stated that the rocket was fired from the north of the Şeba town in southern Lebanon, based on the intelligence they had and the evaluations they made, and announced that Hezbollah in Lebanon was responsible for the attack.
Lebanon's Hezbollah denied the allegations that they were behind the attack in Mecdel Şems and stated that they had no connection to the incident. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stated in his statement regarding the attack, "Israel will not overlook this deadly attack. Hezbollah will pay a heavy price that it has not paid so far."
CLAIM THAT THE MISSILE WAS FIRED FROM IRON DOME
It was claimed that the missile was fired from the Iron Dome, the air defense system belonging to the Israeli army, shortly after the warning sirens sounded in Mecdel Şems. A local resident who wanted to remain anonymous stated in his statement to AA that the explosion occurred immediately after the attack siren sounded and it was observed that the missile came from the Cebel Şeyh region where the "Iron Dome" batteries are located. Similarly, a reporter from Doha-based Al-Arabi television reported that the idea that the missile was fired from the Iron Dome was formed among the local people due to the direction it came from and the delay of the attack siren.
ISRAEL-LEBANON BORDER IS TENSE
Meanwhile, in the clashes that have been taking place on the border since October 8, 2023, between the Israeli army and the Hezbollah Movement in Lebanon, 386 Hezbollah members and 18 Israeli soldiers have been killed so far.
