In an environment where inflation is being fought, discussions about a mid-term raise for the minimum wage, which was set at 22,104 Turkish lira at the beginning of the year, have begun. Social Security Consultant Ali Duman, who was a guest on Abdurrahman Yazıcı's program on Haberler.com, stated that the minimum wage has eroded against inflation. He emphasized that it is particularly impossible to make ends meet with the current amount, especially in large cities.
Social Security Consultant Ali Duman was a guest of Abdurrahman Yazıcı on Haberler.com. Evaluating the process of determining the minimum wage, the impact of inflation, and the difficulties faced by workers, Duman stated, "It is almost impossible to say that I can live on the minimum wage," criticizing the current system.
In response to the question posed by host Abdurrahman Yazıcı, "Should there be an interim increase in the minimum wage?" Ali Duman provided examples based on the inflation figures for the first four months of the year. He expressed that a large portion of workers are struggling to get by on the minimum wage and that this situation negatively affects their standard of living.

Duman reminded that millions of workers in Turkey receive salaries at the minimum wage level, emphasizing with the statement, "It is almost impossible to say that I can live on the minimum wage," that even basic living needs cannot be met. Stating that inflation erodes the value of salaries in our pockets every month, Duman drew attention to the dramatic decline in purchasing power, especially in recent months. Duman continued his statements as follows: The minimum wage is a wage determined by the Minimum Wage Commission; there are 15 members in the commission. Last year, there was no unanimous decision from the Minimum Wage Determination Commission. Inflation erodes the purchasing power of the minimum wage every month. This is not the value of labor and the laborer. It is almost impossible to say that I can live on the minimum wage.
