After the discussions regarding the 'controversial congress' in the CHP, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action and summoned Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Akif Hamzaçebi for questioning. While the repercussions of the incident continue, President Erdoğan's remarks made about the issue 10 days ago have once again come to the forefront.
Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation regarding allegations that money, phones, and houses were given to delegates during the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, which took place on November 4-5, 2023, at the Ankara Sports Hall. Within the scope of the investigation, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Akif Hamzaçebi were summoned to testify as witnesses.
In a statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "Based on the notification made to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 'money being exchanged for votes on the day of the congress' at the Republican People's Party Congress held in Ankara, the documents were sent to our office in Ankara following a decision of incompetence. Subsequently, an investigation was initiated by our office in January 2024. Due to their statements in the media and on social media regarding the incident subject to the investigation, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Akif Hamzaçebi have been summoned to testify as witnesses. The investigation is being conducted meticulously."
ERDOĞAN'S WORDS CAME TO MIND While the repercussions of the incident continue, President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks made at his party's 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Manisa came to mind. Erdoğan claimed that the congress was suspicious and said, "They blamed all the costs of the disaster in the May 14-28 elections on Mr. Kemal and sent him off with a dubious congress."
KILIÇDAROĞLU'S EMPHASIS ON "BETRAYAL" CAUGHT ATTENTION Recently, Kılıçdaroğlu, who was a guest on a program, stated, "Your companion should not betray you. If there is any hesitation or differing opinions, it can be expressed freely. This is inherent in the structure of the CHP. We always value criticism. I never interrupted the words of friends who criticized during my chairmanship. I have always trusted my friends, and within that trust, we shared our views and secrets. Being a companion on the road is not an easy task. I said, 'It is difficult to be Mr. Kemal's companion.' It is indeed difficult. It means being together in sorrow and joy."
