In the Parliament, CHP member Serkan Sarı, who came to the podium with a banner that read "Crisis" in large letters on a map of Turkey, wanted to place the banner where the TBMM Presidency Board is located when it didn't fit on the podium, but he was not allowed to do so. In response, Sarı reacted by saying, "You are uncomfortable seeing this," while AK Party member Leyla Şahin Usta remarked, "They used the colors of the CHP on the banner. There is indeed a crisis in the CHP." The debate about the crisis continued for a while.
The discussions on the "2024 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal" have begun in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The TBMM General Assembly convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Celal Adan. Tense moments were experienced during the meeting. A debate that started with a banner reading "Crisis" continued for a long time.
HE CAME TO THE PODIUM WITH A BANNER READING "CRISIS"
CHP Balıkesir Deputy Serkan Sarı came to the podium with a banner that read "Crisis" in large letters on a map of Turkey. When the banner couldn't fit on the podium, Sarı placed it where the TBMM Presidency Board was located, but Deputy Speaker Celal Adan did not allow him to do so. Following this, Sarı took the banner with him.
"YOU WERE UNCOMFORTABLE SEEING THIS"
Sarı stated, "This nation expects a solution from you, but you are not aware of anything. You were uncomfortable seeing this sign, you were uncomfortable seeing this banner. You are uncomfortable with the situation you have put the country in, right? There is a crisis in the economy, there is a crisis in justice, there is a crisis in law, there is a crisis in health, education, and agriculture. Young people are hopeless, retirees are poor, farmers are in debt, and you have failed again in your 24th budget prepared in this crisis environment. Shame on you. Shame on you for forgetting this citizen. Do you know why you can't solve anything in your 24th budget? Because you don't know how to make a budget," he said.
"THEY USED CHP'S COLORS, THERE IS A CRISIS IN CHP"
Later, AK Party Group Deputy Chair Leyla Şahin Usta took the floor, stating, "The election was in 2023, and that red light was shown by the citizens, our nation, at the ballot box to the CHP, to your 6-party coalition. But you are still living in a dream world. What you have drawn is a fantasy. They used CHP's colors on the banner they drew; indeed, there is a crisis in CHP, and they expressed it very well. I congratulate them. The speaker claimed that we cannot make a budget. He listed what can be done with numbers, but there is a famous saying; 'The market is over, drive your car to Niğde.' We have already done all of these; the roads you mentioned, the schools, the hospitals, the crossings, we have done all of them long ago. Just the other day, in Brussels, Belgium, your General Chairman waved at tractors. You seem to have forgotten, there was an election campaign. Mr. Özgür Özel said he would give a tractor to every farmer during the campaign. Then when he was asked, he said with his own mouth, 'I said that for sensationalism for the election campaign,'" she expressed.
"IF YOU RESPOND TO WHAT THEY SAID, IT WOULD HAVE MEANING"
During Usta's speech, CHP deputies knocked on the desks. While exchanges occurred between AK Party and CHP deputies in the General Assembly, CHP Group Deputy Chair Gökhan Günaydın took the floor. Günaydın stated, "Our friend Serkan Sarı made a speech by completely staying within the budget criticism. It is true that he raised his voice during the speech, but he also raised his words, and the entirety of his words was about your budget. I must say that I find it strange that you are excited and take the floor from here. Because you need to respond to what he said; when you do, it would have meaning. Therefore, with this tax, you made Turkey number one in corruption and poverty. You are in the 17-25 corruption week, and you are in its 12th year; never forget this," he said.
"WE WILL TEACH THEM TO BUILD ROADS FOR THE CORRUPT"
AK Party Group Deputy Chair Leyla Şahin Usta, speaking from her seat, said, "I just want to express this. Look, across from where we are sitting, under you, it says, 'Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation.' In 2023, you still have not learned to respect the votes of this nation at the ballot box. In 2024, local elections were held, and you cannot distinguish between local elections and general elections. The general election gave the right to govern this country for five years to the nation with its free will at the ballot box. We will use this five years until the end. We will also teach the corrupt how to build roads," she replied.
"YOU ARE A LAME DUCK, YOU WILL GO IN THE FIRST ELECTION"
While discussions were ongoing in the General Assembly, CHP Group Deputy Chair Gökhan Günaydın said, "The 2023 elections took place, and we know how the 2023 elections were. Of course, respect is shown to the results in some way. Another election was held in 2024. Do you know what they call this in politics? They call it a 'lame duck' in politics. You won the election in 2023, you lost in 2024; you are a lame duck, you will go in the first election," he said.
"IS THAT WHY YOU ARE HOLDING SO MANY CONGRESSES?"
AK Party Group Deputy Chair Leyla Şahin Usta, recalling the CHP's congresses, said, "Is that why you are holding so many congresses? You are holding congresses every day to avoid being a lame duck. I understand very well now," she concluded.
