As part of the illegal betting investigation, a red notice has been issued for Fedlan Kılıçaslan, the owner of a virtual betting company. All of his assets have been seized, and the Meritking company owned by Fedlan Kılıçaslan had become a jersey sponsor for Galatasaray last year, but the contract was terminated when it was understood that it was an illegal betting site.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that Fedlan Kılıçaslan's assets have been seized and a red notice has been issued against him.
3 SEPARATE CHARGES FILED
In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau, it was determined that Kılıçaslan facilitated illegal betting and gambling through the websites he owns, encouraged participation in betting or games of chance by advertising illegal betting and gambling sites, and laundered assets derived from crime.
RED NOTICE ISSUED, ALL ASSETS SEIZED
Following this, a red notice was issued against Kılıçaslan. With the decision made by the Peace Criminal Court, his movable and immovable properties in the Black Sea, shares in companies and partnerships, deposits and investment accounts in banks and financial institutions, as well as assets in cryptocurrency exchanges were seized.
IT CAME TO THE AGENDA WITH THE SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH GALATASARAY
The site opened under the name "MeritKingNews," owned by Fedlan Kılıçaslan, appeared to be a sports news portal but had come to the public's attention due to allegations of connections to illegal betting sites. Especially, discussions grew around Galatasaray's jersey sponsorship negotiations and stadium advertisements, leading the club to suspend the agreement due to public backlash. Additionally, as a result of lawsuits filed in Turkey, access restrictions were imposed on the site, and it was found that users were being directed to illegal betting sites.
